What is Pulse Coach?

Pulse Coach is an iPhone and Apple Watch app that turns the health data your Apple Watch already records into three daily scores: recovery (0–100), exertion (0–10) and sleep, plus a training call for the day. An on-device AI coach explains what the numbers mean. Everything runs on your iPhone.

Do I need a WHOOP, Oura ring or other extra hardware?

No. Pulse Coach uses the Apple Watch you already own. It reads heart rate variability (HRV), resting heart rate, sleep and workouts from Apple Health, so there is no strap, ring or membership to buy.

Is Pulse Coach free?

Yes. Daily recovery, exertion and sleep scores, the journal, your strongest habit impact, 7- and 30-day trends, routines, the Apple Watch app and widgets are free. Pulse Pro ($4.99/month or $29.99/year) adds the full daily briefing, ask-anything coach chat, every habit impact, 90-day trends and the weekly report. Anything free today stays free.

Does my health data leave my iPhone?

No. Pulse Coach has no account, no servers, no analytics and no tracking. Scores and AI answers are calculated on your device. The App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected".

Which devices does Pulse Coach support?

iPhone with iOS 26.6 or later and Apple Watch with watchOS 26.6 or later. The AI coach uses Apple Intelligence (iPhone 15 Pro or later with Apple Intelligence turned on). Other iPhones get the built-in rule-based coach with the same scores.

How long until my recovery score is accurate?

Pulse Coach compares each night with your own rolling baseline. Scores become personal after about 7 nights of wearing your Apple Watch to sleep, and keep improving as your 60-day baseline fills in.

Is Pulse Coach a medical device?

No. Pulse Coach is a wellness app. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. If a reading worries you or you feel unwell, talk to a doctor.

Which languages does Pulse Coach support?

English, Arabic, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, Swedish and Turkish.

Why does Pulse Coach say it is still building my baseline?

Scores need about 7 nights of HRV and resting heart rate data. Wear your Apple Watch to bed and check that Sleep tracking is on in the Health app.

Pulse Coach shows no data. What should I check?

Open Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Pulse Coach and make sure all categories are allowed. Then confirm your Apple Watch is recording HRV and sleep in the Health app.

Can I use Pulse Coach without an Apple Watch?

Pulse Coach needs overnight HRV, resting heart rate and sleep data, which come from Apple Watch. Without it, most scores cannot be calculated.

How do I delete my data?

Settings → Privacy → Delete on-device journal and reports removes your journal and weekly reports. Deleting the app also removes its data. Your Apple Health data is not affected.

Does Pulse Coach write anything to Apple Health?

Only if you allow it: finished bodyweight circuits are saved as workouts. Nothing else is written.
